Guarding our spiritual diet
A total of seven saints from Malaysia have blended with some students saints from University of the Philippines last January 12, 2012.
After having a lunch with the saints from Malaysia, we went to have a tour and campus meeting at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. It was great experience to be with the saints making us realized that we are just in one body. The experience was so great.
In the Campus meeting we had some hymn singing that we enjoyed so much and pursued about the Fall of Man. This message showed us that we need to guard our spiritual diet. We need to guard everything that gets into our being. In Genesis 2:9 we noticed that there is another tree beside the Tree of Life. This Tree is the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. When man partook of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, man was completely ruined for God's Purpose.
The Two trees in the Garden of Eden represent two principles in man's relationship with God. The principle of the tree of life is man's dependence upon God while the principle of the tree of knowledge is independence from God. To have God as life makes man dependent to God. When we do not take God as our life and we choose to live according to knowledge we become independent from God and are not able to fullfill His original plan for us, which is to express Him.
It is altogether a matter of man's choice. To choose the Tree of Life is to choose life and to choose the Tree of Knowledge is to choose death. God's purpose in creating man is for man to be contained by God so that man could express Him. Before man could take God as life, Satan came in to deceive man by tempting Eve to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge and eventually both Adam and Eve was deceived. This action of man is the greatest tragedy in the universe for it cause man to receive the satanic life. As a result of this tragic act, man fell away from God's original intent and purpose. It is known today as the Fall of Man.
This cause two major problems for man. On the objective side, man transgressed against God's righteousness by disobeying His commandment not to eat the tree of knowledge and man came under God's judgement and lost his right for the tree of life. Meanwhile, on the subjective side, man took in the satanic life and that life became a poison to him, constituting him a sinner with a sinful nature.
The message touched each one of us. It even left a big question for us that "Are we eating the right thing?" I was reminded by a sharing of a sister from Malaysia that we should not let this history happen again which has happened 6,000 years ago. And, today we need to guard everything that we eat. Daily we need to eat physical food to sustain life but there's a need also for us to eat the tree of life. It is by eating only that we can enjoy Him.
That experience made us realize that wherever we are, here in the Philippines or abroad, we just need to eat the right thing. Eat the Tree of Life. It is altogether a matter of our choice...
